Description
The deliberate use of ‘blackened timbers’ from the ship indicate the jardinière’s naval origins and add to its charm and almost folk art quality.
Salvaging ships timbers to construct items of furniture was not unusual in the 19th century and still happens today. Good examples of this period are scarce and this is a beautifully designed piece.
This jardinière could be used as a wine cooler if a liner was made for it.
