Description
A fine and well proportioned Irish antique provincial walnut lowboy, the top having the unusual feature of four re-entrant corners. The half round moulded edges border a beautifully figured quartered top with herringbone, crossbanding, original faded colour and patina. The drawers have thin oak linings and are nicely dovetailed. The original engraved handles retain tiny traces of original gilt lacquer. The keyholes in the centrally placed handle escutcheons without locks are very charming features. The shaped frieze has an eye appealing silhouette and well balanced turned cabriole legs with quirky and unusual detailing at the top.
