Description
The burr walnut veneers used for this humidor are of the finest quality. The top with a brass engraved tablet, the item edged with ebony line and flush brass lifting handles. The doors have central vertical beading giving the appearance of two panels when the doors are closed. The lock is stamped “Bramah London”, a top of the range firm of lock makers and has the original key. The left hand door has the unusual feature of a hidden locking bolt which releases when the right hand door is opened. The two interior doors and drawers are veneered with beautifully figured walnut with their original finish. The drawers have flush brass handles and moveable divisions. The “golden-honey” colour and patina are original as is the red baize underneath. An almost identical example was sold at Bonham’s Gentlemans Library sale on February 12th 2020 lot 65 without a key.
