Regency revolving bookcase

Before restoration After restoration Regency revolving bookcase before and after restoration.This unusual bookcase was missing a large number of the false book fronts. Period leather was used to replace the missing spines. The book titles were then tooled on to the leather. In some cases spines from period books beyond repair were used too.

Missing pieces were replaced and matched using period veneers. The old polished surface veneers laid flush with the existing so the bookcase had repairs which would stand the test of time, The bookcase was then lightly cleaned and waxed. Material for the doors was replaced with silk of the clients choice. this bookcase did not originally have brass grills behind the silk.
