Fine antique bentwood hat and coat stand

This curvaceous hat stand has a cluster column topped with a beehive finial. Below a crown of 8 double ended hooks for hats and coats. The lower crown for umbrellas, sticks and walking canes with four swept bentwood legs finished by a matching return finial on the base of the column. Good colour and original condition commensurate with age.

An almost identical design by Gertrude Thonet is shown on page 81 of the “Thonet Bentwood and other Furniture 1904 catalogue reprint.
