Fine 18th century mahogany tea caddy of the Chippendale period

A fine 18th century mahogany tea caddy of the Chippendale period with flame figured front and the unusual feature of a veneered burr elm lid.

Lovely deep concave moulding giving a very pleasing chunky appearance. Of deep rich colour, good character, excellent patina and original metalwork. This item has had a good life and not been dropped on its edges etc. The interior lid with the original red velvet lining, three compartments and place for caddy spoon.
